While you breathe out, pull your knee caps and turn your legs in without moving your feet. Then lock your arms and begin to push your chest to the wall.</p>
<p>To intensify this exercise, roll your shoulders back and down and then try taking your throat to the wall. Use your breath to make the exercise easier.</p>
<p>Even if you do not do yoga exercises, it pays to have a yoga mat at home. Most therapy exercises for chronic lower back pain are performed on the floor, and yoga mats are necessary to provide a stable and non-slippery surface for the exercises.</p>

<p>Let us start with diet. One principal reason that many people experience the pain and discomfort of a low back injury is because of the Standard Western diet, high in fats, processed foods and sugars. This is a major contributor to the increasing rates of obesity in society. Obesity along with decreased amounts of exercise has led to an increasing number of people who suffer from low back pain.</p>
<p>Preventing low back pain means taking positive action to improve your overall health as well as your back health. </p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>If you are pregnant, there is a 90 percent chance that you will suffer some sort of back pain, at least later on in your pregnancy. It&#8217;s an unfortunate fact that most pregnant women will experience it at some point, but fortunately, preventing back pain during pregnancy is relatively easy to do. First, you must understand what causes the pain, and then just do a few simple exercises every day to help strengthen the muscles that will be instrumental in the prevention of this pain</p>
<p>As your belly swells throughout your pregnancy, you will find your center of gravity shifting to compensate for the extra weight pulling you forward. To accomplish this, your back will begin to arch more and more, compressing the vertebrae and discs of the lumbar spine. This doesn&#8217;t need to go on very long before you will find yourself experiencing back pain. Fortunately, preventing back pain during pregnancy is not too difficult, as long as you diligently perform exercises that strengthen the correct muscle groups.</p>
<p>The most important group of muscles to strengthen when preventing back pain during pregnancy is known as the ore group. </p>
<p>These muscles were meant to support your spine and stabilize your pelvis, but if they become weak, then other body parts, like your lower back, try to compensate, often resulting in back pain. If you perform the exercises below, you will strengthen your core muscles and take pressure off of your lower back.</p>
<p>The first exercise you can do is called a row. Place your feet slightly wider than your hips, bend your knees, and push your bottom out so you are in a squat position. Bend over from the waist so your torso is parallel to the floor. Using small dumbbells, perform a rowing movement, bringing the dumbbell up towards your ribs, and repeat this 6-10 times. </p>
<p>Another exercise is squats. Place your feet slightly wider than your hips and turn them outward slightly. Lower yourself into a sitting position, and then squeeze your bottom together as you return to a standing position. Repeat this 6-10 times as well.</p>
<p>A few more exercises are the bird dog: Get on all fours, with your hands directly under your shoulders and your knees directly under your hips. Keeping your back flat, extend opposite arms and legs into the air, and then repeat on the other side. Or, you can try a hip bridge. Rest your head and neck on a birthing ball, with your hips pushed into the air. Drop your hips to the floor, then raise them back up, using your bottom to push. Repeat both of these exercises 6-10 times.</p>
<p>Preventing back pain during pregnancy is really quite simple if you perform these simple exercises daily. They are all specifically designed to strengthen your core muscles. As always, check with your doctor before starting any exercise program. Back pain can be unpleasant and even debilitating, but if you start these exercises early in the pregnancy, you may never have to experience it.</p>

In that sense, this site is no exception. These articles are in support of a particular drug, but we prefer to put that drug into context and give you as rounded a picture as possible. Although we cannot claim to be independent and therefore offer completely unbiased advice, we hope you will find balance here and a freedom to make up your own minds.</p>
<p>Medical research indicates that up to 80% of adult Americans will experience back pain at some point during their lives. In surveys, the respondents consistently report that pain in the lower back is the most disruptive, not only interfering directly with the ability to work and so earn a living, but also affecting the quality of life by:* disturbing sleep;* encouraging inactivity and weight gain; and* even preventing the enjoyment of sex.</p>
<p>When serious pain strikes, the first reaction is usually a consultation with the primary care doctor. At this point, the bad news is received. Although it is always useful to have the possibility of serious underlying diseases and disorders ruled out, even dedicated specialists using the latest in technology, find it difficult to diagnose a specific cause for every case. This is dissatisfying. But doctors are nevertheless able to offer some help in listing treatment options. If a specific cause for the pain has been identified, the treatment can target that cause and, within the limits of technology and surgical skill, produce an improvement if not a cure. Where the cause is not certain, the choices come down to:* medication &#8211; there are a wide range of drugs available both on prescription and over-the-counter to control the pain and relieve tense muscles;* physical therapy to analyze movement problems and encourage greater mobility through the manipulation of the spine and joints, and the training of muscles;* cognitive behavioral therapy to teach coping strategies to improve the quality of life, i.e. to help people achieve the maximum within their physical limitations;* complementary and alternative therapies such as chiropractic and acupuncture &#8211; more controversial but nevertheless found effective by many people; and* specialist medical care for better diagnosis and possible treatment.</p>
<p>The main research conclusions are that practical and hands-on treatment give the best results. This includes both physical and cognitive behavioral therapies. The reason for this preference is the social bond between patient and therapist which improves the mood and encourages a more positive outlook on life. The difficulty, of course, is financial. Many health plans do not include either the professionalized or the alternative therapies. If these cannot be funded out of savings, this forces people into more medical tests and surgical interventions, or restricts them to medications.
